Ali Molavi, could you tell us something about you as a virtual or physical artist?
I am an artist based in Tehran, where my creative practice has also crossed over into videography and writing. I consider myself a full-time artist whose schedule is built around the ability to be in the studio as much as possible.
My works have been shown in several places like some galleries in Tehran, Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, Sweden Art Bassel and Demo Festival in Amsterdam.
Could you tell us more about your NFT art?
As once said in a movie of an Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, Nature is a mirror in which we can study ourselves, I am inspired by the natural phenomena as well. I remember the first time staring at the sea as a child and I remember the feeling that has stayed with me until today, the satisfaction of watching the waves is not repetitive despite the repetitive motion. I want the person watching my works to have the same satisfaction as watching the waves because in the nature we are surrounded by the natural repetitive rhythm like sunrise and sunset and even breathing which is our most unconscious but vital act is like a loop. I always seek for this satisfying experience in my artworks and I want to share this experience by creating my own loop.
I consider myself as a Pop art artist but this movement has changed a lot past 50 years and I see an evolution of pop art movement in NFT artworks.
Choose some of your NFTs and describe it to us in detail
Transition — 2021
This artwork is a transition between classic pop art and new pop art that we can find almost in NFT world.
Strange Noise — 2020
As taking care of a zen garden, staring at the machine generated visual by a retro television is meditative and satisfying. This artwork is a bridge between machine generated visual and satisfying modern artworks. It can be some second of visual satisfaction at the end of the day like some minutes of meditation for freeing mind and to let imagination fly in the world of creativity.
